Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center (ASMMC) leaders hosted three virtual community meetings (September 22, 23, and 28) to share information and accept feedback regarding the redevelopment plans for the existing hospital campus after the opening of the new Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan County.
Dave Graebner (President of Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center) and Victoria Navarro (Regional Director of Planning, Design, & Construction for Advocate Aurora Health) provided an overview of the redevelopment process and timeline. Working collaboratively with the city provided additional thoughts, thanks to City Administrator Todd Wolf and District 2 Alderperson Roberta Filicky-Peneski for their support.
Graebner noted that the redevelopment is still in its early stages and that it is Advocate Aurora’s commitment to ensure community members have an opportunity to ask questions and share ideas for the redevelopment. “We’re listening. We want to make sure that all people in the neighborhood are part of the process and understand the time frame for redevelopment will take more than 5-7 years,” said Graebner.
Using an interactive presentation format during the meeting, community members could share thoughts about the project in real time. A question and answer session at the end of the presentation also allowed participants immediate feedback.
Members of the community who were not able to join virtually had the opportunity to view live broadcasts of the meetings on Charter Spectrum Channel 990 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99 or attend a live listening session held in the Sheboygan Council Chambers at City Hall. Masking and social distancing practices were followed.
