Council held an election to fill the District 4 Alderperson position open on the Common Council. Two candidates were nominated, John Holzwart and Betty Rose-Ackley. The Common Council elected Betty Rose-Ackley to serve as the Alderperson representing District 4, with a term expiring April 20, 2020.
Council approved the Mayor’s appointments of Paul Gottsacker to serve on the Historic Preservation Committee and Vicky Schneider to serve as the Director of Senior Services.

Mayor Vandersteen presented a proclamation recognizing April 2, 2019 as “National Service Recognition Day” and presented the proclamation to Jess Childs an AmeriCorps volunteer serving as a Nutrition Educator at the Nourish Farm to School Program.
Mayor Vandersteen mentioned several upcoming local events and meetings:
- Alderperson Candidate Forums in the Rocca Room at Mead Library on March 28; at 6:00 pm District #1 candidates Nicholas Dussault and Barb Felde; at 7:00 pm District #9 candidates Trey Mitchell and Dane Schaefer
- Senior Activity Center will host an Open House on March 26 to say “Thank You and Happy Retirement” to Wendy
- Schmitz for her 13 years of dedicated service as the Director of the Senior Activity Center
- Avoid late fees on pet licenses, renew licenses before April 1
- Wildwood Cemetery Spring cleanup begins on April 1, any grave site items not removed by April 1 will be disposed of by cemetery staff
- Spring Election on Tuesday, April 2; Early voting is available at the Clerk’s Office Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, ending on Friday, March 29 at 5:00 pm

- There are 77 days left until we move back to City Hall for the City Council meeting on June 3
Council approved the purchase of 20 BCycle Trek bicycles and related software to begin a bike share program centered in the Downtown and lakefront areas.
Council authorized the Senior Activity Center to accept the donation of an automated external defibrillator (AED) from Aurora Health Care.
Council authorized City Officials to enter into a contract with Klunck Masonry for the 2019 Sidewalk Program.
Council approved an encroachment into portions of right-of-way along the South Pier Riverwalk by Prohibition Bistro to expanding the outdoor patio area.
Council authorizing City officials to execute the PILOT Agreement between the City of Sheboygan, Wasserman Redevelopment, LLC, and the Housing Authority of the City of Sheboygan.
Council held a resolution that would have dissolved the Sustainable Sheboygan Task Force and substituted it with an Interdepartmental Green Team.
Council approved changing the time of the organizational meeting of the new council on April 16 to 7:30 pm.
Council met in closed session related to the possible transfer of land located in the Town of Wilson.
