FIFTEENTH REGULAR COMMON COUNCIL MEETING FOR THE 2019-2020 COUNCIL YEAR

Council accepted the resignation of Ray Haen from the Board of Water Commissioners.

Mayor Vandersteen announced that there would be an election held during the Council meeting on November 18 to fill the open position on the Board of Water Commissioners. The term will begin immediately and end on September 30, 2020.
Mayor Vandersteen and Alderpersons Felde, Wolf, Savaglio, and Sorenson reported on their take-a-ways from the League of Municipalities Annual meeting that they attended in Green Bay on October 23-25.
Mayor Vandersteen announced that The Landlord Training Program will be held at City Hall at 6:30 pm on November 7. Interested landlords can register at the City Planning Office, the cost is $10. Over the last six years 150 local landlords have participated in this training program.
Sheboygan is forming a Complete Count Committee and the first training session has been scheduled as the program at the Mayors Neighborhood Leadership Cabinet on November 5 at 6:00 pm. The program features a presentation by Tasha Jenkins, the Partnership Specialist from the Chicago Regional Census Center of the US Census Bureau.
In the matter Tyler Jones vs. the City of Sheboygan, Case No. 18CV-709 before the United States District Court, Eastern District of Wisconsin, Decision and Order Granting Defendant’s Motion for Summary Judgment.
Council approved Resolution No. 102-19-20 authorizing the purchase of six squad car vehicles for the Sheboygan Police Department through the State of Wisconsin’s cooperative purchasing agreement.
Council approved Resolution No. 103-19-20 authorizing the purchase of tactical body armor and related equipment for the Sheboygan Police Department.
Council approved Ordinance No. 28-19-20 and No. 29-19-20 creating a no parking zone on the west side of N. 5th Street to the north and south of New York Avenue.
Council approved Ordinance No. 30-19-20 amending Section 122-403, 122-404, and 122-405 of the Municipal Code as to make changes to Sewer service charges.
Council received the received the Report of Officer No. 95-19-20 and filed the 2020 Business Improvement District (BID) Statement of Purpose, dated October 1, 2019, and the BID’s 2020 Operating Budget.
Council approved Resolution No. 92-19-20 authorizing a contract with Buteyn Peterson and the expenditure of $318,245 for emergency slope repair along the Sheboygan River near S. Water Street and Jefferson Avenue.
Council approved Resolution No. 83-19-20 establishing the 2020 Budget appropriations and the 2019 Tax Levy required to finance the 2020 Budget of $24,092,874.
Council met in closed session related to a possible sale of the city-owned property in downtown Sheboygan along Pennsylvania Avenue and at 229 South Pier Drive.
