Mayor’s Announcements:
- Love Your Neighbor Workcamp is accepting applications now through February 15, 2020 for those who are interested in being considered for home improvement assistance. This program is being offered by Fountain Park UMC in partnership with other area churches.
- Early absentee voting for the Spring Primary is available at the City Clerks Office in City Hall weekdays from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm through February 14. The Primary ballot includes the Supreme Court and Aldermanic District 6.
- Monday afternoon prior to the Council City officials participated in the ribbon cutting at the new 108-room Fairfield Inn & Suites located on South Taylor Drive. This project of the WISCO Hotel Group brings the first Marriott Hotel to the Sheboygan hospitality market. The hotel will feature free breakfast and happy hour for their guests.
- Council approved the appointment of Katy Glodosky to the Harbor Centre Business Improvement District Board.
City Administrator Darrell Hofland presented the 2020 State of the City including 4th Quarter 2019 – Strategic Plan Action Items and Critical Measurements review.
Council approved Resolution No. 151-19-20 and 152-19-20 authorizing entering into an Agreement with Visit Sheboygan STEAM, Inc. to accept a $75,000 grant from the Fund for Lake Michigan in support of the STEAM education center project to be constructed at the Visit Sheboygan Visitor Center.
Council approved Resolution No. 154-19-20 an agreement to assume future financial responsibility of the rail line proposed for abandonment by the Union Pacific Railroad.
Council approved Resolution No. 156-19-20 authorizing the appropriate City officials to enter into a contract for the 2020 Concrete Pavement Projects (Superior Avenue from Taylor Drive to N. 29th Street and Niagara Avenue from 14th Street to Commerce Avenue) and award the project to the low bid of $2,686,348 submitted by the Buteyn-Peterson Construction Company.
