The Eighth Annual National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation is a friendly competition between cities across the US to see who can be the most “water-wise.” Mayors nationwide will challenge their residents to conserve water, energy, and other natural resources on behalf of their city through a series of informative, easy-to-use pledges online. Do your part this Earth Month by going to MyWaterPledge.com to participate.
Whether it’s drought conditions in the West or the high costs of energy related to water use in the East, saving water has become one of the most talked about issues in the nation today. The National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation was created to reward residents for positive conservation behavior, provide immediate feedback with real time city by city results that can be measured against their neighboring cities, set goals to promote positive changes in consumer behavior.
Cities with the highest percentage of residents who take the challenge in their population category win. Sheboygan will participate in the 30,000-99,999 population category. Sheboygan achieved 10th place in 2018, but we’re aiming to move up in the ranks this year! Participants in the winning cities are eligible to win hundreds of prizes. The challenge has awarded more than $50,000 in prizes to nearly 300 residents in U.S. cities.
Take the free pledge with your Facebook account. Once you’ve completed your water pledge, you will receive a code to share with your friends to take the challenge. If your friend completes the challenge, you’ll be entered into a daily prize drawing. There are also refer-a-friend prizes! If your friend wins a daily eco-prize and you referred them, you win the same prize!
This year we’re giving charities a great reason to go green with a community prize 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Know a great charity in your community? Simply add their name when you enter the prize drawing and they could win a 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. All charities are eligible, PTAs, churches, health and human services, arts groups, and more.
