May 15th was designated as National Peace Officers Memorial Day by President Kennedy in 1962, and the calendar week that includes May 15th was also declared as National Police Week. Through a joint resolution of Congress in the same year, National Police Week was established to acknowledge and honor law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while protecting others. We express our deepest gratitude to their families and pledge never to forget their sacrifice.
National Police Week is a joint initiative of various organizations committed to showing appreciation and respect for the law enforcement community in the United States.
These brave men and women embodied the very best of our society – selflessness, courage, and dedication to the common good. Let us honor all who have served this week by committing to support and stand with law enforcement officers across the country. As we remember the brave ones we have lost, we also express our gratitude to those who continue to serve and protect us every day.
