Goods
By Lisa Vihos – Sheboygan Poet Laureate
The snowblower I want,
the one with the ice auger,
was ordered in October
but has not yet arrived.
I await the right tool
for when the snow plow comes
and leaves a pile of frozen snow
at the end of my driveway.
Supply chain disruptions
wreak havoc for each of us.
Goods are rendered useless
at ports from Long Beach to Savannah.
But then, there are goods
we can supply freely anytime.
Unspoken intangibles
that come in no container
a wave, a smile, a bundled neighbor
silently clearing the driveway.
